59週年校慶 董事長致詞

校長、各位老師、同學大家好： 

經過三年疫情的影響，今年終於重新回到積中堂舉辦59週年校慶活動，而明年即將迎接僑光60週年大慶。慶祝校慶的宗旨是感謝勉懷僑光科技大學創辦人陳積中先生的奮鬥，經過他的奔走及擘畫，於民國53年（1964年）10月9日正式成立僑光。我從小看著他中間歷經的辛苦，而我們的校訓「明誠立信」就是代表辦學的目標，教導同學做人的道理。

其次，僑光是一所應用型的大學，我們培養社會運作建設所需的人才。由於我們是商學起家的學校，因此目前銀行及保險業中高階管理人很多都是校友，這對於在座的同學也是一件幸運的事，因為未來就業時便可能獲得學長姊的資源和協助。因此各位同學在校時要好好培養自己的基本功，未來就業就能有更開闊的職涯發展。

此外，也希望同學多訓練自己溝通的能力，掌握溝通及語言的工具。若有第二外語專長，未來求職的機會及待遇都會相對較多。舉例來說，高鐵徵求實習生最主要就是要求英語能力，而我們學校已有多位學長姊獲取實習機會，可見僑光除了傳授專業知識外，也能培養提升大家的外語能力。因此在校園盡量提供各位練習語文的環境，像我個人以身作則，每次重大集會都會用雙語演說，就是希望同學能夠獲得沈浸式的學習機會。

僑光自詡為中部最好的私立科大，我們的體育校隊在競賽上都獲取優秀的成績；也有創設系的師生在克羅埃西亞國際發明展得到二金一銀的佳績，這就是學校用心努力提供同學優秀的師資及教學設備，讓同學能應用所學、發光發熱，讓將來以僑光為榮，僑光也以各位為榮！

很高興今天在這裡與大家一同慶祝僑光59週年校慶，希望我們一起努力讓僑光繼續成為各界讚許的優良傳統學府。感謝學務處規劃舉辦這次全校師生的校慶活動，最後祝福今天的活動都順利成功、大家身體健康！

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I’m very grateful and we are very lucky to be at the latest celebration of the anniversary of our university, Overseas Chinese University, 僑光科技大學. This year is the 59^th anniversary of OCU, Overseas Chinese University. We were established 59 years ago on October 10, 1964. And this is our 59^th year, and next year is the biggest celebration we will have for the 60^th year. We are rehearsing for next year’s big event, and I want to remind everyone here of the meaning and the history of our university. It’s the struggle of our founder, Mr. 陳積中, and his effort for almost 10 years and sacrifice to establish this school. We have made a tradition of our previous history and success for all our students here to follow, to learn from, and I’m sure once you are independent, you focus on your effort in your study here, especially on your personality, how to treat other people, be humble and be kind, help people in need. Once you respect others, they will respect you back, that’s the basis of your personality.

Besides your personality effort, you have to also do your basic learning. I emphasize your effort and the importance of communication in this society. People need to communicate, and nowadays scholars, propose the importance of communication is more important than any other way of communication between people in our society and our workforce. And I emphasize the importance of English because nowadays overseas and local jobs require English oral communication skills. This is important to many of our students when they look for good-paying jobs to meet their job requirements and to cooperate with others at work. So my effort today is to ask our students now, to remember what I told you today and continue all this tradition: to learn, to succeed, to follow your previous students, and also to follow the instructions of the faculty, to work very hard in particular to your study, to make your family, make your school, make your teachers proud of you. And I also want to thank our alumni. Previous alumni have served not only the alumni but also they serve many of our students here. You will learn from them and also you will benefit from many of your contributions to help people, to develop other students.

Finally, I want to thank our guests, our facility, and also our students for all their efforts so far in making today’s successful and eventful celebration for all of us to remember. Thank you.
